The suggested solutions for tute 13 have returned! Enormous thanks to the student who sent me a copy (you know who you are -- the cheque's in the mail!). The link is the same as previously advised by email.

You should all have received an email within the last 12 hours, with the following text:

Hello, Computer Networks people.

This email is to notify/remind you of three things:

  1. As mentioned in last week's lecture: there will be no classes AT ALL in Computer Networks during the week 20th-24th May 2002. Your lecturer will be attending the AusCERT conference over that period. However, you will be expected to study the lecture material for lectures 20 and 21, which will be available on the Web. You should also work through the associated tutorial exercise sheets for tutes 20 and 21.

We will also briefly revise this material in the following week's lecture and tutes.

  2. Assignment 3 is available. It's not really any harder than assignment 2, but counts for 20% so is worth making an effort on. You get to choose ONE topic from a *huge* range available -- there should be something to suit all tastes!

  3. Marking for assignment 1 is now complete. If you haven't received your mark via email, you should get in touch with me. Although, don't expect a quick response during the week that I'm away...

I'll see you all for the lecture on the 27th.

Phil

Bad emails -- most of you should have received at least one copy of an email from me over the weekend. It was sent to any student-supplied email address you may have given, and additionally to all enrolled students at your students.latrobe.edu.au email address. Some emails were undeliverable, so if your supplied email address is one one the following, perhaps you'd better contact me and we'll sort it out.

Students using MS-Windows systems for Assignment 2 may encounter a variety of problems with the system-supplied version of MS-Telnet. This page has some hints on how to work with telnet on Windows.

Assignment 2 is now available.

28th March 2002 11am
Assignment 1 is now available. You have two weeks to do it in, and it should take you about 5 minutes if you know what you're doing. Have fun!

Today's lecture is cancelled due to ill health of the lecturer. Sorry to leave this so late, but I really thought that I'd be able to drag myself in there and present it, but it's just not going to happen. If this is how a computer feels when it gets a virus, it's no wonder they stop working!

Check out the lecture notes (lectures 4 and 5) and watch for the tutes appearing RSN.

4th March 2002 6pm
On-line tutorial registration is now available AND WORKING!!!. Hurry, some popular tutes are filling fast! BTW: those of you who have emailed me asking for particular tutes need to be aware that I can't (at present) access the databases whilst the CGI system is "live". You must use the Web interface to choose your tutorials.
